"The excellent broad and varied curriculum has led to better achievement in all years, including the Sixth Form, because students can follow programmes that meet their needs” Ofsted 2012
We are keen to ensure we offer a truly comprehensive Sixth Form; we offer Level 2 and 3 courses, so offering an option to all Year 11 students. With such a large combination of subject options, and with many subjects running a number of classes, we are highly likely to be able to offer the right combination to match your interests and strengths.
Our large numbers mean that we are able to offer courses from the traditional to the modern. The majority of these are A Levels, but we also offer a number of Applied A Levels and are increasing our provision of Level 3 BTECs and OCR Nationals.
We are acutely aware that every student is different, and are able to offer a wide variety of additional courses to suit any student’s individual needs. We offer the Extended Project Qualification and the AQA Baccalaureate to an increasing number of students. We also have a number of students who enrol in Open University modules. Additionally, we offer the option of studying an extra AS course on top of the normal curriculum.
We have a full-time, one year Level 2 BTEC programme for any students whose GCSE results suggest they are not yet ready to move on to Advanced Level study, which includes a day a week on a vocational placement. All students who haven’t gained that all-important ‘C’ grade in English Language, Maths or Science also have the opportunity to join GCSE resit classes in one or more of these subjects.
